I really like the apprenticeship programme so far as it has opened me up to a whole new plethora of opportunities that I didn’t previously know existed within hospitality. I’ve always worked in food & beverage and had never considered working elsewhere until the apprenticeship. The apprenticeship has allowed me to experience new areas of work I’d never considered before, such as housekeeping. Housekeeping is always physically demanding but it turns out I really love it. I love the freedom to work on my own, the responsibility to manage my own time and the ultimate feeling of achievement at the end of the day.
Along with the constant career growth I also really enjoy the ever growing knowledge that I gain from attending events such as the Big Hospitality Conversation and the HIT Scotland Emerging Talent conference. These events allow me to hear from leaders and the future generations of the industry and it inspires me to work hard and progress until I am in their shoes.
