Geoff Martyn Apprentice Focus

Starting the apprenticeship I did not know what to expect. Being one of the first 9 in a new course you don’t really know what to expect.  We did have a little bumpy start getting it started as not a lot of people understood or even knew what the course was about but I feel like the course blossomed over time kind of like myself. Now everyone knows what the apprenticeship is about and understands it more and it makes it more fun because everyone’s interested in what you have been doing what is coming up next. Especially for our third year.

I personally feel that the choice of me being able to move around the different Apex’s in Edinburgh has boosted my confidence as I was always meeting new people. It was like a new challenge for me as I would say bye to friends I had made at the hotel I was in the I would go and make more in another hotel. The strange part for me is that most people who work in Apex now know my name hahaha.

I am very glad that I had the opportunity to do this course. When I had applied for the course I had a lot of support from friends, family & managers at the hotel which meant a lot to me as I was not alone.

I am looking forward to the challenges that are put in front of me as I now have a bigger circulation of people to help me if I need it. I am also looking forward to the 3rd year as we will get to see the behind the scenes of the  hotel which I have been looking forward to.
