Masterclass Series commencing
Apprentices get opportunity to attend a series of top training masterclasses from January to June
Development and training is at the heart of the Apprenticeship in Hospitality Scotland and what sets us apart from the rest is our masterclasses and learning journeys. Prior to Covid19 becoming a part of our lives the AHS apprentices have been to London, Italy, Barcelona and beyond for their learning journeys and attended masterclasses every 6 months in each of their departments ranging from cooking sessions with Gary Mclean and Tony Singh, Housekeeping training at Apex Laundry, WSET wine courses to personality profiling workshops (Insights), barista courses and many other unique opportunities to support and develop the apprentices skills and knowledge.
Last year we hosted a WSET Level 1 Wine Course delivered by Carol Brown of Wine Uncorked Education and a remote exam online for the first time in December. Following on from this we are now delighted to have created a series of monthly workshops to support their way through their qualifications and boost their skills and knowledge in these uncertain times for the industry. We are kicking the series off with a bespoke masterclass from Barnomadics at the end of January and follow on in the series as shown below.
Calendar of Masterclasses:
27th January - Bar and Cocktail Masterclass with Barnomadics
24th February - Inspirational speaker Alexia Muteke from the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne
31st March - Gaelic Masterclass delivered by Roddy Maclean (Broadcaster, writer and educator)
28th April - Cyber Security Workshop by Gary Ennis of NSDesign
28th May - Brindisa Spanish Foods workshop with Ibérico Ham Carving and Tasting
30th June - Chris Wayne-Wills, CEO of Crerar Hotels - inspirational speaker
Huge thanks to our partners, sponsors, in particular HIT Scotland and industry colleagues for help putting these together for the group of apprentices who benefit so much from the advanced learning they get out of these workshops.
Look out for updates and images from the masterclasses over the coming months here on our news pages and on our social media channels.
