Isle of Mull - Learning Journey
Fantastic visit to the Isle of Mull for our AHS apprentices.
Day 1 visit to Tobermory, the weather not so kind however the hospitality of the local suppliers where our apprentices had the opportunity to learn more about their produce and of course the taste test.
Isle of Mull Cheese Brendan Beale explaining all about the cheese process and meeting those all important cows. Amazing sights and smells in the cheese cellar hearing all about the age of the cheese and how they look after them.
Next stop Tobermory Distillery and a whisky tasting organised with Olivier Maclean and his team this certainly brought some much needed warmth to the afternoon.
Our final stop meeting Sally at Tobermory Fish a family run business making the finest Smoked Trout, which the apprentices took great delight in tasting, so impressed that some of them bought this to take home.
Back to Crerar Hotels and the Isle of Mull Hotel & Spa accommodation was fabulous with stunning views. The team at the hotel looked after us so well and the food at dinner was outstanding showcasing the very best in Hospitality Service.
An inspiring visit for our apprentices understanding more about local businesses and their produce; what part they play within the hospitality industry and how crucial it is to support them.

Day 2 – Visit to Whitetail Gin Distillery
Our host Lawrence explained all about the history of their award winning gin, showing the apprentices the various botanicals that make up its unique flavour.
Apprentices were given the opportunity to taste Whitetail gin along with their newest Whitetail Gin Liqueurs in a variety of flavours Ginger, Vanilla and Rhubarb was a popular choice.
